1. Is the problem a font or a text alignment problem?
     a. No: Goto 2
     b. Yes: Is the difference in font types (arial, courier…)?

          i. No: Goto 1.c.
ii. Yes: Are you using a resident font (no soft font is used)?
This can be checked via options:
              80. Administering InterForm 400
              4. Work with fonts
              8. Auto download soft fonts Here you should have one printer group called *PDF where the font might be linked with a soft font and you might have a printer group called *PCL (or other) for PCL printing. Check the font links with option ‘8=Update fonts’ for both groups. If your font number is mentioned here, then you are not using a resident font.
                   1. Yes: Please notice, that PDF only supports a few different typefaces (arial, courier new and times new roman) other are converted into one of these. If you want to use another font in PDF, then you need to use a soft font for PDF.
                   2. No: Please make sure, that the soft font is used for the specific codepage you are using during the merge – both for PCL and PDF.

     c. Is the text aligned incorrectly/differently in PCL and PDF?
          i. Yes: Make sure, that the font size (height) is an integer times 0.24 e.g. 8.88 or 9.12 instead of 9 as the PCL font size changes in steps of 0.24. Does this help?
                   1. Yes: Done
                   2. No: Perhaps the printer is using a different font than in PDF. Try to install a soft font (TTF) and link that with the font for both PCL and PDF. If that does not help: You can as a final workaround consider to activate Copy management on the overlay (using one copy for both secondary and primary merges) and then select e.g. primary (*PRI) for PCL merges and secondary (*SEC) for PDF – and use two different text elements for PCL and PDF. If this does not help: Please contact your InterForm400 support.

ii. No: Do you see a difference related to barcodes?
                   1. No: Please contact your InterForm400 support with a detailed description of the problem.
                   2. Yes: Is the barcode missing in the PCL result?

                              a. Yes: If this is a 1D barcode (e.g. code128, ean, code39 or interleaved 2 of 5), then you are probably missing a soft font in the PCL result: Check the autodownload setup. Make sure to link the barcode font number with the soft font in the *PCL group – for all codepages (0=All symbol sets).
