You remember InterFormNG? A while ago I mentioned InterFormNG (New Generation). This product is comparable with the good old InterForm400, but is platform independent where InterForm400 is based in the IBM i platform only. As mentioned earlier InterForm400 is still being developed and an annual release will be issued in april as usual.

The new InterFormNG product differs from InterForm400 in quite a few areas:

  • You can chose to handle specific errors (e.g. when missing a resource) in a special manner – e.g. to ignore the error.
  • You can group elements in areas to make it easier to reposition them.
  • You can let InterFormNG decide when to do a page break (normally when there is no more space for additional lines).
  • The input is not spooled files, but XML files.
  • You can select data from the input XML files via the language Xpath or by selecting it with the mouse in the designer.  Xpath also includes a lot of functions, so you can even do a lot of calculations directly in your design.
  • InterFormNG can run without any license code – the text ‘TRAIL EDITION’ will however be included in all outputs.
