Instead of mapping a network drive you can also add a network place instead. That is done in this manner:
In Windows XP:
In XP you can do that by clicking 'Start' and 'My network places' and finally 'Add a network place' on the upper left.
In Windows Vista:
In Vista things have changed (including this...). Here you can click 'Start' followed by 'Computer'.Now you right click on 'Computer' in the tree structure and select 'Add a Network Location'.
The share is written in the same manner as when you map a network drive.
You need to click 'My network places' when accessing these. You can even copy such a network place to your desktop for fast access.
